FAQ

Q. What’s the difference between a committee member and a volunteer?

A. Both committee members and volunteers play a vital role in SWEH, but committee members take on a bigger role in decision-making and long-term planning, while volunteers support events and initiatives when needed.

Q. How much time is required for a committee member?

A. As this is a volunteer, non-paid role, we are mindful of the time you are contributing. The commitment depends on your role, but we’re looking for those who can dedicate time on a consistent basis—such as attending catch-ups every 3-4 months, being available at events, and engaging with our online community.

Q. What’s expected of a volunteer?

A. Volunteers help with specific tasks or events without the ongoing commitment of a committee member. This can include assisting at events, helping with promotions, or supporting special projects based on your availability.

Q. How can I benefit from being involved?

A. The opportunities are endless! If you have a business, SWEH provides great exposure within the local community. If you’re passionate about making a difference, this is a chance to use your skills, grow your network, and contribute to something meaningful.

Q. Do I need prior experience to apply?
A. Not at all! We welcome all skill levels and backgrounds. The most important thing is your passion for community building and willingness to contribute.

Q. Where are the events and meetings held?
A. Most of our in-person events are in the Sydney area, and we aim to make meetings as accessible as possible. Some meetings may be held online to accommodate everyone’s schedules.

Q. What if I can’t commit long-term?
A. That’s okay! If you’d like to be involved but can’t commit long-term, you can sign up as a volunteer and help out at specific events or projects whenever you’re available.

Q. Are there any costs involved?
A. No, there are no fees to join as a volunteer or committee member. However, any personal costs (such as travel to events) would be at your own expense.

Q. Can I suggest ideas or initiatives for SWEH?
A. Absolutely! We love fresh ideas and input. If you’re a committee member, you’ll have direct involvement in decision-making. Volunteers are also encouraged to share suggestions with the team.
